Our adventure starts nestled within Presque Isle in Aroostook County.
It is here that you will find Aroostook State Park, which is a true nature lover’s paradise.
Beautiful year round, this 898-acre state park was formed in 1938.
Today it stand as the first official state park of Maine.
No matter what time of year you visit, you’re sure to be surrounded by some of the most beautiful natural scenery Maine has to offer.
The park features 3 miles of hiking trails, each one ranging in difficulty.
However, all of them will take you on quite the adventure to some of the most scenic vistas in Maine.
One of the park’s main attractions during the warmer months is Echo Lake.
In the spring in summer, it’s common to see many locals swimming, fishing, and exploring Echo Lake by kayak.
But when winter sets in, things change.
That's when the park transforms into quite the winter wonderland!
The area sees nearly 90-inches of snowfall per year.
That's a lot of snow! But people are used to dressing warmly for the firgid Maine winter weather.
And after a few snowfalls, the state park is truly a sight to see.
It’s a great place to go cross-country skiing.
You'll have nothing by wide-open Maine state park land to traverse and enjoy all of what nature has to offer all around you.
Or bring a sled and fly down a hill!
