Few People Know This Beautiful Hiking Trail In Louisiana Even Exists

With so many hiking trails in Louisiana, you could explore a new trail every weekend for the rest of your life and still not get to all of them. Of course, some trails are more popular than others, but that’s not the case with Lost Man Loop. This waterfront hiking trail in Louisiana tends to get overshadowed by its big brother nearby, but this lovely loop trail is just perfect for a quiet hike. Let’s check it out:

The Lost Man Loop is a 3-mile hiking trail near Linden, Louisiana.

It begins and ends on the north side of the Caney Lakes, not far from the Upper Caney Campground.

Check out the AllTrails map to find the trailhead and get an idea of what’s in store.

Shortly after the trailhead, you’ll cross over a footbridge that takes you to the southern side of the Caney Lakes.

The waterfront views along the trail are just dreamy.

Feel free to bring your dog! This is a dog-friendly trail, just make sure to keep them on a leash.

If you're tackling this trail in the spring or summer, plenty of wildflowers will be in bloom.

You might even spot some wild azaleas! Those beauties tend to bloom between April and May.

After you cross over the lake, you'll head further into the Kisatchie National Forest.

Enjoy being surrounded by emerald greens, towering pines, and the symphony of sounds from the songbirds up above!

If you want a longer hike, check out the Sugar Cane Trail. If you plan on exploring any of the hiking trails within the Kisatchie National Forest, I'd recommend getting yourself an AllTrails + account so you can access over 200 guides, get real-time navigation, and more.
