When it comes to getting outdoors and enjoying Louisiana’s natural landscape, you can’t beat a state park. Louisiana has 21 state parks peppered throughout the Pelican State, each one with a labyrinth of trails to explore, fishing holes to try, and campsites to make memories. There’s one state park in Louisiana that’s so little known, that you’ll practically have it all to yourself.
If you’re looking to get away from it all, Cypremort Point State Park is the answer.
It’s at the end of the road, literally. It’s one of the few areas on the Gulf coastline that’s accessible via roads. As you drive along LA-319, you’ll get a feel for how isolated this park really is, and why few people make the journey. But don’t worry, your efforts will be rewarded when you step into this scenic slice of paradise.
Nestled along Vermilion Bay, Cypremort Point State Park is the ultimate Cajun-Caribbean hybrid you didn’t know you needed.
Grab some sunscreen and a good book and enjoy the peace and quiet.
The sandy beach is perfect for catching some rays in between splashing around in the bay.
There are plenty of grills and picnic tables nearby, too, so pack some snacks and enjoy a picnic on the beach!
It's a great spot to do a little fishing.
Fish from the pier, along the water's edge, or jump right in and do a little surf fishing. It's also a great area for crabbing!
There's a boat launch located right outside the park, with slips nearby.
Cruise along the bay and see the park from an entirely different perspective! You've also got the option to head out to the Gulf of Mexico if you're looking to fish deeper waters.
You get the best of both worlds here: beaches and bayous.
Take a stroll along the nature trails and boardwalks to check out the marshland. You might even spot a gator or other local wildlife.
If you'd like to prolong your stay (and we wouldn't blame you), there are six cabins available to rent.
Each cabin sleeps up to eight people and overlooks the water.
In the evenings, find a cozy corner to enjoy the sunsets over the water.
It's easily the best place in Louisiana to watch the sunset. Grab your favorite beverage, sit back, and enjoy the show.
