When And Where To Expect Louisiana’s Fall Foliage To Peak This Year
Louisiana offers unique autumn experiences with beautiful fall foliage in several state parks.
Louisiana may not be known for our awesome autumns, but that just makes it all the more special. While most of the country, especially those in the northeast, will begin to see their leaves change in October, we will have to wait just a bit longer than the rest of the country to see the fall foliage in Louisiana. Good things come to those who wait, and we’ve picked out some perfect places to spend a day or two surrounded by beautiful fall colors.
According to the Smoky Mountains Fall Foliage Prediction Map, Louisiana should begin to see the leaves change towards the end of October.
While most other states will be well past their peak, we’ll begin to see ours in the first week of November.
The second week of November is the model pictured above, so mark your calendars!
The northern part of the state is a great place to go leaf-peeping during this time.
Chemin-A-Haut State Park has some truly beautiful bayou views that pair perfectly with those warm autumn hues!
Spend your day kayaking the bayou or hiking the trails to really get into the fall spirit.
Another wonderful option is Lake Claiborne State Park.
Located in Homer, this 600+ acre park is nestled around a 6,400-acre man-made lake, perfect for exploring the scenery on a boat.
It's the perfect time of year for camping, so bring your tent so you can truly immerse yourself in the fall spirit!
The colder weather will keep the bugs at bay, and, unless it's raining, you can enjoy sitting beside a campfire and roasting marshmallows!
Last but certainly not least, there's Jimmie Davis State Park.
Fishing and cycling are the two biggest attractions to this Jackson Parish park, but if you can time it right, you'll be pulling up to this view!
