Welcome to Fall River State Park, an area of about 980 acres that doesn't get a lot of recognition, but definitely makes a pleasing outdoor outing.
Nestled between the Cross Timbers area and the famous Flint Hills, you have a great mix of both areas, rocky grounds and plenty of tree cover.
Now, a good pastime here at Fall River is a relaxing day out on the water, whether that be in a canoe or in your favorite fishing boat.
Back on land, you can enjoy bird watching, hiking on their six trails, and of course, camping.
Camping here is a little more quiet than your usual Kansas state park because they're less busy unless you're here around the 4th of July or Memorial Day.
Even if you don't like the idea of roughing it out in a tent, they have cabins available for rent when you need four walls at your getaway. Plus, not everyone enjoys sleeping on the floor, you know.
Next time you'd like a beautiful weekend away from home, check out this underrated state park for all of your outdoor needs.
