1. Walt's Pizza - 213 S Court St. Marion
Locals have been enjoying this dive for over three decades. In addition to their famous double decker pizza, you can also get steak and seafood dishes. You'll want to enjoy your meal on their gorgeous patio.
2. T'Moe's Pizza - 1011 W Broadway Blvd. Johnston City
This place is about more than just pizza, but that's likely what you'll get anyway. You can get a load of their vast menu any day for lunch and dinner at this local favorite.
3. Girolamo Pizzeria - 107 W Cherry St. Herrin
For over 35 years, this downtown favorite has been attracting area residents with its thin crust pizza. You can also get pasta, sandwiches, and even gyros.
4. Mimmo's Pizza - 114 Plaza Dr. Carterville
Though the original location opened in Wisconsin in the late 1970s, there is a location in Southern Illinois you have to check out while you're on this trail. You won't regret stopping in for a pie and one (or two) of their delicious appetizers.
5. Alongi's Italian Restaurant - 18 W Main St. Du Quoin
Since 1933, this authentic Italian restaurant has been serving up favorites from pastas to pizzas. As you wait for your pie, enjoy the restaurant's decor, which features old images of the town.
6. Martel's Pizza - 706 Walnut St. Murphysboro
Using produce from local Illinoisans, this restaurant makes pizzas, salads, subs, wings, and desserts. The best part is that you can get pizza by the slice weekdays during lunchtime.
