Looking for a fun day trip during summer in Georgia isn't hard. From parks to museums to festivals, there are plenty of family-friendly attractions that won't take up an entire weekend. One of our favorites, however, has to be a trip to Amicalola Falls State Park in Dawsonville. The park may be best known for being home to the tallest waterfall in the state, but there's plenty more to enjoy here, and it's got a lot that the entire family can enjoy. Check this place out:
Of course, the highlight of this magnificent park is the waterfall that shares its name. There are several different ways to view the falls, so depending on your kids' ages, you can opt for a strenuous stair climb or simply drive up to the parking areas.
The parking lots can get full later in the day, so you'll definitely want to head out early to make sure you get a good spot.
If your little ones are up for the challenge of a hike, some of the trails here offer up absolutely amazing views.
The whole family will love the picnic areas, where you can enjoy an al fresco meal packed from home.
Got older kids and want to experience something that's a little more of an adrenaline rush? The Screaming Eagle Aerial Adventure Tour is available for kids and adults 8+ and offers up a variety of amazing treetop adventures, including suspension bridges and zip lines.
Reservations are highly recommended, especially during the busy summer months.
Whether you're looking for the adrenaline rush of a zip line tour or just want to explore the park from the ground, one thing's for sure...
...this is one of the most impressive state parks in Georgia and it's the perfect summer adventure!
