We love a lengthy trek through miles and miles of woods, but there's also something so appealing about shorter trails. Maybe you are out with a young kid, or someone with mobility issues, or you're working to get into better shape. Whatever the reason, there are plenty of great kid-friendly trails in Georgia that are perfect for those looking for something a little easier and shorter. And if you're looking to go out on a hot, sunny day (we certainly get plenty of those in the Peach State!), there are many to opt for that have lots of shade. One of our favorites is the Dunwoody Nature Trail in the city of Dunwoody's Dunwoody Park.
Dunwoody Park is a beautiful 25-acre municipal park with all kinds of treasures the whole family can enjoy.
You'll find several trails, a playground in the woods, a creek, and a nature center with exhibits and classrooms at the park.
The Dunwoody Nature Trail is an easy one-mile loop with very little elevation gain.
It's perfect for kids, and there's even a creek for them to frolic in.
The Georgia sun can get pretty hot, so the fact that the surrounding forest provides so much shade is definitely appreciated.
The easy trail is perfect for the entire family, (leashed) dogs included.
This certainly won't be a multi-hour extensive workout trail like you might find in the Northeast Georgia mountains, but it's a great family-friendly hike that will stretch your legs and get you out in nature!
