Nestled near the small town of Blairsville is a waterfall attraction that might just become your new favorite swimming hole in Georgia. Helton Creek Falls Trail is an easy, 0.8-mile round-trip trek deep in the mountains that will take you to an incredible swimming hole at the bottom of a waterfall cascade. Featuring not one, but TWO waterfalls along this trail, come experience the beauty of this local favorite swimming spot in Georgia. Be sure to download the AllTrails+ app for all your offline maps as well as information about this waterfall attraction.
The Helton Creek Falls Trail in Blairsville offers hikers a chance to see two waterfalls in one, and even take a dip in the swimming hole below.
Enjoy the natural beauty of the water, which cascades down the bouldered slopes into a set of two different falls.
This hike is easy in terms of length, at less than a mile roundtrip, but there are a few steep grades and even some stairs to consider.
However, that doesn’t stop this hike from being very kid-friendly, or even dog-friendly for those leashed fur friends.
The top falls are what some have said to be one of the most beautiful falls in Georgia, which drop down in a blueish, green lagoon below.
Also, don’t worry if you don’t want to get wet all the way - there is a wooden viewing platform to enjoy the waterfall, too.
Bring a picnic lunch to eat on the nearby boulders and then take a swim in the shallow part of the waterfall.
Just make sure to be careful! The rocks can get very slippery, and it’s best to wade to where you’re comfortable rather than jumping in just anywhere.
It doesn’t get much better than this for a natural swimming adventure on those warm, sunny Georgia days!
