Stone Mountain is a gorgeous natural quartz formation that measures 1,686 feet above sea level and 825 feet around the area surrounding it. It's a popular tourist destination that's a great area for camping and hiking.
The rock is famously home to a large stone carving of Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, three notable leaders of the Confederacy.
But did you know that there's a full-size locomotive train from the 1940s at Stone Mountain?
The ride on the Stone Mountain Park train lasts about 30 minutes and will show you some great unique views of Stone Mountain, plus the surrounding area, which contains over 3,000 acres of natural beauty.
The open-air train ride is about five miles long, and the gentle breeze offers great break from hiking.
The train ride is free with a General Attractions pass for the park.
