While some visitors to Rome, Georgia might enjoy the charm of the small town and the wonderful community spirit…

…there is an entirely different side to the small town that weaves together the beauty of nature and the stillness of the outdoors.

In fact, there is one particular hike in Rome that takes you through the historic Jackson Hill area and brings hikers to a spot that is cherished by all.

The Jackson Hill Trail in Rome is a 1.2 mile lightly trafficked out-and-back hike that features a bevy of historical spots and stunning wildflowers throughout.

Just blocks from Downtown Rome, this Jackson Hill is known as being an area for visitors to explore, between the winding trails, outdoors exhibits, and of course, the famed attraction known as the Labyrinth of Rome.

The Labyrinth of Rome was created in the area that was once an amphitheater built by the Works Progress Administration in the 1930s.

Different from a maze, a labyrinth has one path only—and the plan is to walk the path toward the center in order to relieve stresses and enjoy the feeling of peace and meditation.

The Labyrinth of Rome contains nearly 5,500 bricks laid end-to-end, weighing a total of 24,705 pounds.

Walk the Jackson Hill Trail and then find your way to the spectacular labyrinth and meditate your worries away.
