This 1.5-Mile Trail In Georgia Leads To Blossoming Wildflowers And A Cascading Waterfall
Vogel State Park's Lake Trahlyta Trail offers a scenic 1.5-mile hike featuring wildflowers and a waterfall.
Vogel State Park in Union County is the second oldest state park in Georgia. Established in 1931, this park has grown into over 200-acres of natural beauty at the base of Blood Mountain. But you don’t need to spend all day here to get a taste of the great outdoors, although you might want to. We have a 1.5-mile trek along the Lake Trahlyta Trail that will take you through blossoming wildflowers and to a waterfall finish. Who's ready to trek to the best waterfalls in Georgia?!
The Lake Trahlyta Trail in Vogel State Park is a loop just over a mile, which takes you around Lake Trahlyta. But when you combine that loop trail with the small path to Lake Trahlyta waterfall, it becomes a different experience altogether.
Guests can start the hike along the Lake Trahlyta Trail near Wolf Creek, and loop around on the path along the lake.
This trail has minimal elevation gain and is quite easy to maneuver, which makes it great for kids, too!
Depending on when you visit, you might be able to see all of the beautiful wildflowers in bloom.
Spring and summer see a tremendous amount of wildflowers blossoming along the trail, meanwhile autumn gives a glimpse into the colorful fall foliage.
Halfway along the Lake Trahylta Trail, hikers will be able to navigate onto a side path that leads right to the cascading waterfall.
Enjoy the magic of this beauty from the wooden platform nearby. After a rainfall, this waterfall really comes to life!
Then hop back on the Lake Trahlyta Trail from there and hike the rest of the loop back to the visitor’s center. This short and sweet hike is brimming with so much nature in under two miles.
