The Granite Outcroppings In Georgia’s Arabia Mountain Look Like Something From Another Planet

Arabia Mountain in Georgia offers a unique, moon-like landscape perfect for hiking, biking, and exploring.

One of the best aspects of exploring the natural landscapes within Georgia is that there are so many unique places to choose from, each with their own beauty. Whether you’re hiking through Providence Canyon and getting a taste of the canyon-life, or wandering through a waterfall hike, you’ll have plenty of outdoor spots in Georgia to keep you busy.  But perhaps one of the coolest spots to consider is right atop Arabia Mountain in Georgia, where the moon-like landscape will make you feel like you’re on another planet.

In case you didn’t know, Atlanta has three giant monadnocks within city limits, one of which is the famed Arabia mountain.

A monadnock is an isolated hill or erosion-resistant rock that rises above normal plain levels, and Arabia Mountain is one of the most beautiful in the state.

What makes this mountain even more remarkable is the fact that the surface looks like you’ve stepped onto another planet entirely.

Arabia Mountain offers up over 40,000-acres of hiking, biking, fishing, camping and more—all within a gargantuan peak in DeKalb County.

The granite outcroppings of this mountain have almost a moon-like appearance, which when you see during certain conditions, like sunrise or sunset, you’ll feel other-worldly.

The history behind the mountain is even more fascinating, as it has taken nearly 400 million years to form with time.

Take to the trails and see some historic sites and natural wonders up close, as you meander your way through lakes, craters, cascades, and streams.

Picnic on the Mars-like surface of Arabia Mountain in Georgia, and see just how magical this out-of-this-world mountain really is.
