Fort Mountain State Park in Georgia offers diverse hiking trails and stunning natural scenery, including a mysterious ancient stone wall.

The Peach State is heaven for nature lovers. There are so many beautiful state parks in Georgia that it's hard to keep track of them all! One of our favorites is Fort Mountain State Park near the Chatsworth and Ellijay area. The park is perhaps most famous for the mysterious stone wall that was most likely built by Native Americans around the year AD 500. However, there's much more to see in this 4,000-acre oasis. This is one of our favorite state parks for hiking in Georgia. You'll find more than 60 miles of trails in this mountaintop paradise!

Fort Mountain State Park boasts a great variety of hikes within its trail system.

There are easy loop trails barely over half a mile that are great for families, but you can also find multi-hour treks for more experienced hikers.

You'll find a wonderful array of scenery here. The park is located in the Cohutta Mountain range, which has some of the oldest mountains in the world. This is a wild region with so much undeveloped natural beauty.

Depending on which trail you take, you may see small waterfalls, creeks, a lake, a lookout tower, or catch a glimpse of the 835-foot wall that gives the park its name.

Some of the more difficult trails have incredible overlooks that provide beautiful views of the land below.

But don't worry, even if you're a novice hiker, you'll find plenty of beauty on the shorter, less steep trails!

Escaping into nature is such a great way to relieve stress while getting exercise at the same time.

There are a lot of beautiful places in Georgia, and Fort Mountain State Park is undoubtedly one of the prettiest.
