Are you looking for a great place to watch the sunset in Georgia?
Without a doubt, the top of Brasstown Bald is the very best spot for this activity. It's located in the northeastern corner of the state, near where North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee meet. This mountain is about two hours north of Atlanta.
If you're anywhere in the state of Georgia or close, a visit to Brasstown Bald - known to the local, native Cherokee people as Enotah - is well worth your time and effort. The sunsets you view from its peak will be some that you will never forget.
Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia at 4,784'. You can hike to the top if you'd like, or you can drive if you prefer.
At the top, you'll find the Brasstown Bald Visitor's Center. Inside, you can view and experience 8,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits about natural history and culture. There's a gift shop, too, if you'd like to buy a souvenir to commemorate your summit.
The mountaintop observatory is here too. The word "bald" in this mountain's name is due to the fact that you can enjoy 360 degree, treeless views from ground level at the top. However, this observatory will enhance your experience even further.
From the top, you can look in all directions. This is a fantastic place to enjoy a sunset.
The colors are always changing. Sometimes you'll see pinks, purples, and blues.
Other times, you'll see yellows and oranges.
Some days the sky is clear and you can see for miles. Believe it or not, you can see four states from this peak (Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina).
Other days, it's a bit cloudy. But even on cloudy days, the view is beautiful; the way the light plays off the clouds at this height is breathtaking.
You can enjoy sunsets on Brasstown Bald all year round. This photo shows a late-summer sunset.
The sunsets here are just as incredible in the fall.
If you stick around after the sun goes down, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the Milky Way, too.
You'll never be disappointed when you go up to the top of Brasstown Bald to watch the sunset.
It's different every time, but every time will amaze you and will stay with you for years to come.
This is a very special high point in a very special state. Head on up to the top of Brasstown Bald as soon as you can; you'll want to return again and again.
