This wonderful spot in the Motor City’s beloved island park is the perfect place to stretch your legs after a long workweek. Upon arriving, you’ll be utterly delighted.
As its name suggests, the trail loops around Blue Heron Lagoon, a lovely lake that sits within Belle Isle. In total, the pathway stretches for 2.2 scenic miles.
Visitors of all skill levels can appreciate this awesome natural attraction. After paying a small fee to enter the park, make your way to the trailhead off of Lakeside Drive.
In addition to the lake, hikers along the Blue Heron Lagoon Trail will appreciate pretty views of the Detroit River, plenty of lush greenery, and an overall sense of serenity.
As if that weren’t enough, the trail is dog-friendly. As long as your four-legged friend is kept on a leash, they can join in for a day of outdoor exploration with the family.
During your hike, you’ll also have the chance to observe the William Livingstone Memorial Lighthouse, which has graced Belle Isle with its Art Deco beauty since 1930.
