Topsmead State Forest was once the summer home of Edith Morton Chase, the heiress of the Chase Brass and Copper fortune. She left the property to the state upon her death, and it was established as a state forest in 1972.

At the forest's center is a Tudor Revival style cottage built in 1924. The home is open for tours seasonally.

Even if you don't opt to take a tour of the beautiful home, the outdoor areas here are absolutely magnificent.
