The New England Scenic Trail In Connecticut Was Recently Granted National Park Status

Looking for a great trail to check out in Connecticut isn't hard: there are so many hiking opportunities in the Nutmeg State that it's almost overwhelming! We are blessed to have so many state parks and state forests that are perfect for exploration, and the number of hiking trails in Connecticut is pretty mind-blowing for such a small state. One trail that recently gained national recognition is the amazing New England Scenic Trail. This epic trail spans 235 miles through multiple states, from the Long Island Sound all the way to Massachusetts. In late 2023, the National Park Service announced that the New England Scenic Trail would now be designated as a national park. Check out this amazing multi-state adventure by kicking off a hike on the New England Trail in Connecticut:

While most of us probably aren't up for hiking 235 miles all in one go, the great thing about lengthy trails like this is that you can always just enjoy a hike on a small portion of the trail.

The trail actually spans the entire states of both Massachusetts and Connecticut, so you'll get to see a wide array of scenery, no matter where you hop in.

You'll find plenty of trailheads throughout both states to allow you to enter and exit at your leisure, and hikers looking to take up the challenge of exploring the entire trail can set up camp along the way.

You'll pass by rivers, beaches, lakes, woods, and gently rolling hills on this lengthy trek.

Some areas of the trail are significantly more challenging than others, with rocky scrambles and narrow pathways, so make sure you research what portion of the hike you're heading out on before hitting the trails.

One thing's for sure: no matter what area you explore, you're going to enjoy some incredible views and an amazing adventure.

We're so happy that the New England Trail in Connecticut now has the national recognition that it deserves!
