The Little-Known Waterfall In Southern California You Can Only Reach By Hiking This 4-Mile Trail
Three Sisters Falls in San Diego offers a challenging hike to a beautiful waterfall and swimming spot.
If you've never spent your summer days at Three Sisters Falls, we have an incredible surprise for you. The trail to Three Sisters Falls is about two miles each way and brings you to an incredible waterfall surrounded by rocky cliffs and lush greenery. Three Sisters Falls is San Diego's hidden oasis, and there is nothing better than going for a nice dip on a hot summer day to treat yourself.
The Three Sisters Falls can be found in the Cleveland National Forest in northern San Diego, and is actually "reversed." From the parking lot, you'll walk two miles downhill until you reach the incredible waterfall and swimming pool.
The tricky thing about walking downhill first is that you have to remember to save enough energy for the steep hike back up to the car. The good news is that you can relax and cool down at the pool before starting your return journey.
The best time to visit Three Sisters Falls is in the spring when the falls still have lots of water running through. However, you can have a great time any time of year.
The trail is quite narrow and at the midpoint, before you reach the falls, you will have to walk and climb around boulders to get to the waterfall.
Also be sure to bring good hiking shoes and plenty of water. It gets very hot here in the spring and summer.
Ultimately, Three Sisters Falls brings you to an incredible little oasis, but it's not easy to get to and you have to be prepared for this hike.
