Pinion Creek Is a Fairytale Trail to Discover in Arkansas

Meandering through the woods, this trail features wildflowers and a seasonal waterfall.

Northwest Arkansas is covered in nature trails, but there's one that will make you feel like you're in a fairytale: Pinion Creek. The cascades here are dreamy, but so are the wildflowers, lake views, and footbridges. A long, grueling hike in the woods isn't necessary when you want to enjoy nature here in the Natural State — and this trail is proof! Let's take a look at Pinion Creek Falls in Arkansas, a wonderful, approachable trail that will instill your day with a healthy dose of magic.

What To Know Before Hiking To Pinion Creek Falls

One of the best parts of hiking to Pinion Creek Falls is that it's fairly easy to get to. Rather than being situated within a remote region, the trail is part of the Back 4 0 Loop in NWA's Bella Vista, sitting near Pinion Drive. Like most trails in the Ozarks, the path is rugged and will require some rock navigating and a few creek crossings as well. You'll want waterproof hiking boots for this one.

Pinion Creek Trail can be taken in conjunction with the Back 40 Loop or added to the Brittany Dam Trail. By itself, the trail is a little over two miles long. The rolling hills of Bella Vista are already a dreamy backdrop, but this trail feels like a full-blown fairytale! The creek-spanning wooden footbridge is a large part of this. You'll feel like you need to watch for trolls! Paired with the cascades, the trail could easily be a page from a storybook. Lastly, please note that the waterfall here is seasonal, meaning it's only visible after it's rained. Of course, you don't need to see the cascades to appreciate all that this beautiful Arkansas trail has to offer.

Who This Hike Is For

Hikers, bikers, and even four-legged friends can take on this trail. It's rated as moderate but approachable for families. Leashed dogs are welcome, too! Parts of the trail are unpaved, but it is well-marked all along the way. From springtime flowers and showers to fall colors, there's always a reason to visit the creek. The full force of the falls is spectacular during the rainier seasons, but so are the icicles during winter. This is one trail that can be enjoyed during any season, just be sure to bring the bug spray. Finish your hike with a gorgeous view of Lake Brittany before deciding on your next adventure!
