The Natural Bridge of Arkansas is nestled in Clinton, the county seat of Van Buren County.

A true geologic wonder, the sandstone arch was created by years and years of erosion.

Spanning 100 feet, the rocky formation is hard to miss; however, it seems to be one of the lesser-known natural wonders in Arkansas.

Its obscurity might have something to do with the fact that it’s not open year-round. Instead, it operates on a seasonal basis, opening each year from mid-March thru mid-November.

Accessing the Natural Bridge of Arkansas is a breeze. A short, one-tenth mile trail leads straight to it.

The formation itself is stunning, but the surroundings aren’t too shabby, either.

Absolutely idyllic, it’s located on Little Johnny Creek and surrounded by lush greenery, which, in the fall, turns into vibrant foliage.

History is as abundant as natural beauty. Two cabins from the 1800s, a period wagon, and moonshine still line the trail to the Natural Bridge of Arkansas.

The historic relics provide a peek into the past, back when the rocky formation was used by loggers as a bridge in the 19th and 20th centuries.

There's also a gift shop. All visits to the Natural Bridge of Arkansas begin and end at the gift shop, so you can shop before or after exploring the geologic wonder.
