It’s Almost Time For The Explosion Of Fall Foliage Around Arkansas’ Buffalo National River And We Can’t Wait

Buffalo National River in Arkansas offers stunning fall foliage and various outdoor activities like hiking, paddling, and ziplining.

Fall is upon us but in a few weeks, we'll be at the peak for the colorful foliage in Arkansas. There's no better place to see it than at the Buffalo National River! This year-round treasure is a worthwhile sight in any season but we're particularly captivated with the fall foliage. Let's explore this area and see what to expect during the peak colors:

Fall is always a beautiful time to enjoy an Arkansas forest or two. One place that offers nearly-endless fall scenery is around the Buffalo National River.

The peak fall colors are expected to hit around the last week of October and early November. You can sign up for weekly fall foliage updates for the state on the official Arkansas tourism website.

Although the river is certainly the focal point for the area, there's plenty of trails too!

Taking a paddle trip down the Buffalo is one gorgeous way to take in the surrounding trees, but not the only one! Buffalo Point Trail, the Goat Trail, or Hemmed-in Hollow all offer jaw-dropping views for hikers. Pick a path that best fits your skill level and prepare to be floored by the foliage. The waterfalls in the area are another must-visit.

One of the prettiest areas is the Lost Valley Trail. The forgotten state park features Eden Falls. This stunning waterfall is even more enchanting during the color change.

On top of the mountains or beneath the surface, this area has gorgeous fall sights from any perspective.

The trees are framed quite nicely when you're looking out from the Indian Rock House Cave. This trail is a wonderful intertwining of nature and history within the Buffalo National River area. It's even more of a must-hike during the fall!
