This Moderate 4.2-Mile Trail In Arizona Is Covered In Wildflower Blooms In The Springtime
Hiking is abundant here in the Grand Canyon State. For that, we are incredibly lucky! Between the desert, the mountains, and the forests (yes, we have it all here), no one is too far from a trail. Today, I'm going to tell you about one of my favorite hikes that's perfect for the spring. In fact, it's a wonderful trail for a spring wildflower hike in Arizona.
Welcome to the Lost Dog Trail! You can find the trailhead and parking at 12601 N 124th St. in Scottsdale, AZ.
This trail is a moderate 4.2-mile out-and-back hike that's quite popular, especially on weekends. The trail is also quite rocky in some areas and you'll also encounter steep inclines. So, make sure you're wearing a sturdy pair of hiking boots for this trail!
If you're up for the challenge this spring, you'll be rewarded, not only with mountain and desert views but with the colorful sight of wildflowers dotting the landscape.
Pops of yellow and purple, red and pink, are just a few of the colors you'll see. I just love springtime in the desert!
You'll want to bring a camera with you for the photo ops as you hike.
One of my favorite things to see in the desert are the cactus flowers. They just add a delicate look to the otherwise prickly cactus.
Make sure that, in addition, to wearing hiking boots, to take plenty of water and wear sunscreen. This trail offers no shade. You can check out our Ultimate Hiking Packing List for anything else you might need for this hike.
