This Easy Arizona Hiking Trail Delivers Big Views for a Romantic Valentine’s Day

Valentine's Day is coming up, so what are you going to do? You can always book a reservation at an upscale restaurant, but how about something a little different? I'm thinking of an easy hike where you can walk hand-in-hand with your special person, maybe take a picnic, and perhaps take in the sunset. How does that sound?

Fountain Park is home to an easy paved trail that will take you around the town of Fountain Hill's world-famous fountain. This may be the most romantic hiking trail in Arizona! One of the best things about Arizona is the winter weather — not too cold, not yet hot — it's just right. Between the near-constant sunshine and moderate temperatures in February, taking a hike on Valentine's Day is a wonderful way to spend time with your significant other.

If you've never been to Fountain Hills, to me it's a great small-town day trip destination. Not only is there a main street with shops and restaurants, but a stunning park that's home to one of the tallest fountains in the world, at nearly 600 feet high. The park also has a paved 1.2-mile loop trail, perfect for a romantic hiking date.

There are plenty of areas to park around Fountain Hills Park, so you can start the route wherever you find a spot. You and your special person can take your time hiking this loop and take it all in. Between the lake and the greenery, it's so peaceful. But one of my favorite parts is all of the sculptures around the lake. These sculptures are part of Fountain Hill's Centennial Circle Art Walk, so you can continue after you complete the park trail to see all of the other art around town.

After your romantic stroll, you can grab dinner at one of the restaurants along Avenue of the Fountains, the town's main street. Or, better yet, you can take a picnic to have a romantic meal on the lawn around the lake or at one of the picnic areas. If you time your romantic hike here in Fountain Hills just right, you'll be able to witness the sunset. And there's nothing quite as beautiful or romantic as an Arizona sunset!
