The Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve Is A Hidden Town Park In Arizona Worthy Of A Day Hike
Hiking areas are certainly abundant here in the Grand Canyon State. Some are certainly more popular than others, too! Oftentimes, you don't have to trek too far away to find a park worthy of a day hike in Arizona. One such place in Oro Valley is Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve, a desert oasis of 208 acres filled with trails, scenery, and wildlife.
Tucked away in Oro Valley is a quiet space that was once the site of a golf course. This is Vistoso Trails Nature Preserve, a place where you can go for a day hike and appreciate the beauty of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.
Throughout the preserve is 6.2 miles of hiking trails. Best of all, they are 8 feet wide and paved so accessible for strollers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment.
There are three trail options here at Vistoso: the North Loop, the South Loop, or Full Loop.
The Vistoso Nature Preserve North Loop runs 3 miles as it loops through the perimeter of the preserve located north of the parking lot.
The South Loop, on the other hand, will take you 3.1 miles south of the parking lot. Each route takes roughly an hour to complete.
For those of you who want to do both trails, the Vistoso Nature Preserve Full Loop is what you want. The combination of the North and South Loops will take about 2 hours.
No matter the trail you choose, you can take your time as you enjoy views of the desert, the Catalina and Tortolita Mountains, and the flora and fauna.
