The Otherworldly Landscape Of This Arizona Lake Is Unlike Any Other In The State

Watson Lake in Prescott, Arizona, offers stunning scenery with rugged boulders and a variety of outdoor activities.

The temperatures outside are getting quite lovely and one of our favorites way to enjoy the weather and scenery is by heading out to one of Arizona's picturesque lakes. Let's take a look at one fantastic lake that you won't want to miss.

Check out this striking landscape of rugged boulders. Beautiful, isn't it? These are the Granite Dells in Prescott and just beyond that rocky landscape is...

...Watson Lake, which is located just a short drive from downtown Prescott.

The lake is beautiful and somewhat surreal to visit, especially on a quiet day when you can be surrounded by just the massive boulders all around.

The boulders and lake even look incredible in winter when the boulders are covered in layers of snow and fog lifts in the early morning hours.

The lake was originally Granite Creek, whick was created into a reservoir in the early 1900s with a nearby dam.

The city of Prescott eventually purchased the land here to create a recreational area for the community. On the water, you can fish, kayak, and canoe.

While on the land surrounding the lake, you can enjoy some great hiking trails, rock climb, and enjoy a picnic nearby.

Have you had a chance to spend time at this lake before? How do you enjoy spending your time here?

Watson Lake Park is located at 3101 Watson Lake Road in Prescott. You can find details about fees, hours of operation, and available activities by visiting the City of Prescott website.

Arizona has plenty of other beautiful lakes and, since the weather is warming up, you'll want to start making plans to visit! One of our favorites is Knoll Lake located on the Mogollon Rim, which you can read about in The Incredible Spring-Fed Lake In Arizona You Absolutely Need To Visit.
