These 13 Epic Mountains In Arizona Will Drop Your Jaw

There’s no denying the natural beauty found in Arizona’s many landscapes. One of the major contributors? Our horizons are almost never flat, which gives a unique texture to the land. Check out some of our favorite mountains found across the state that offer an amazing hiking and views.

1. Camelback Mountain

Named for its unmistakable silhouette against the sky, Camelback Mountain measures 2,704 feet.

2. Chiricahua Mountains

So many beautiful locations to choose from here but this gives a view of the vast number of stone columns found in the area.

3. Four Peaks

Did you know there’s an amethyst mine in here? Also, the tallest peak is Brown’s Peak, which stands 7,659 feet tall.

4. Hayden Butte (aka, “A” Mountain)

This popular hiking and running trail for Tempe residents is, unfortunately, being slowly consumed by surrounding development.

5. Picacho Peak

This popular hiking location reaches 3,370 feet at its highest point.

6. Piestewa Peak

One of the highest points in Phoenix, Piestewa Peak measures 2,610 feet.

7. Rincon Mountains

This mountain range is one of many that flanks Tucson and its highest elevation reaches 8,664 feet.

8. San Francisco Peaks

This mountain range was once part of a massive volcano. The highest peak, Humphreys Peak, measures a whopping 12,633 feet, more than two miles above sea level!

9. Santa Catalina Mountains

Beautiful and rugged, these mountains reach 9,157 feet above sea level at Mount Lemmon.

10. Santa Rita Mountains

Found south of Tucson, these mountains offer an amazing hiking experience. The tallest point reaches 9,453 feet.

11. South Mountain

This sprawling mountain feature measures 2,690 at its tallest peak and is known as Muhaḍagĭ Doʼag to the O’odham people in the area.

12. Superstition Mountains

The tallest peak here is 5,059 feet tall and is thought to be the home of the Lost Dutchman’s mine.

13. White Mountains

The highest point here (though not seen in the photo) is Mount Baldy which has an elevation of 11,400 feet.
