A Hidden Beach In Arizona, Cattail Cove State Park Will Take You Away From Everyday Life
Cattail Cove State Park in Arizona offers a hidden beach with diverse outdoor activities and stunning desert scenery.
Arizona and hidden gems go together something like chips and salsa. It’s the perfect match! Our state has a huge land expanse with a remarkable amount of environmental diversity combined with rich, varied cultures, so it’s no wonder you can find all kinds of incredible places to enjoy a sunny day - including a hidden beach in Arizona.
One type of destination that doesn’t get talked about often are beaches. That’s probably because most assume that as a landlocked, desert-heavy state, Arizona doesn’t have beaches. We do and the rare sandy beach that you can find around the state is simply divine. Let’s take a look at one such place.
Tucked away in the mountainous landscapes of Parker and Lake Havasu City are several state parks that border the Colorado River. Each has a small beach area for swimmers to dive and boats to launch from but Cattail Cove is one with a particularly pretty beach scene.
Open year round, Cattail Cove State Park has everything an outdoorsy person could ask for: lots of open space for running, hiking, swimming, boating, and playing, depending on the season you visit.
But the little beach that sits within a small cove along the river is definitely one of the stars here! Lovely white sands dip into the river’s deep blue waters, just waiting for wading, splashing, and swimming.
If you’re bringing a furry friend, they can enjoy the day in the pet run or a special Doggie Beach!
Other activities include fishing with a valid fishing license and camping when you make reservations.
The mountains in the area offer a rugged desert scenery you're not likely to find on many other beaches, making this place feel just a little more special.
You can go for a hike here! The trails are short but offer a nice introduction to the landscape.
You might even be lucky enough to spot some of the locals!
Cattail Cove is also the perfect spot to watch the sun set at the end of a fun day.
Cattail Cove State Park is located 15 miles south of Lake Havasu City along State Route 95. You can find details about the park’s hours, fees, and events on the state park website, azstateparks.com.
