If you’re looking for a beautiful autumn hike, head on out to Cascade Lake Trail in Alaska. This stunning trail, located in Denali State Park, is the perfect place to get out and breathe in the fresh air. With stunning views of Denali on clear days, this hike should be on the top of your bucket list!
If you want to get out and watch the colors change right before your eyes, head to Denali State Park.
There’s a great trail here that will take you up and over the treetops. You may even catch a glimpse of Denali!
This stunning trail is rated as moderate, which means it’s pretty doable for most people in your party.
If you have a hankering to get out and enjoy the views, this hike will deliver. With lake and mountain vistas, and plenty of interesting features to the hike, it moves quickly even though it’s 8.4 miles total.
You’ll cross boardwalks and bridges, and hike through the forest.
But the elevation gain is gradual and not too bad. You’ll only ascend 1,840 feet along the entirety of the trail.
Make sure you pack layers, because the weather can shift quickly.
After a healthy rain, the area can also be muddy, so pack with that in mind. A good pair of boots will serve you well, especially if it rains.
The area is home to lots of bears, so be sure to bring bear spray and be mindful of your surroundings!
You’ll be in the backcountry, so be sure to be aware of the animals around you. Pack everything out that you brought with you -- and keep Alaska’s wildlife wild!
The park does charge a $5 daily parking fee; however, if you’re a local, think about purchasing the $60 annual pass instead. It might just be worth it!
