The Kathy Stiles Freeland Bibb County Glades Preserve is located off the beaten path in Brierfield, Alabama.
Known as the "Glades," this nature preserve covers approximately 480 acres.
It features numerous rocky, dolomite glades, and it's currently the most biologically diverse piece of land in Alabama.
The Little Cahaba River flows through the Kathy Stiles Freeland Bibb County Glades Preserve.
Best known for its scenic canoe trails, this river is a major tributary of the upper Cahaba River Basin watershed.
The preserve is also home to 61 rare plant species, making it a true botanical wonder. More than likely you'll be familiar with many of the plants you encounter. Sadly, several of them are endangered.
Finally, in addition to rare plants, you'll also spot different types of wildlife and wildflowers during your visit. Just be sure to watch your step because you might encounter a snake or two.
