Sykes Diner And Market In Montana Is A Century-Old Treasure
We might enjoy our personal space more than most here in Montana, but there’s also a strong sense of community in the Treasure State you just won’t find anywhere else. If you grew up in Kalispell, you’ve certainly heard of — and probably spent a lot of time at — Sykes. This interesting combination of diner, market, and pharmacy has been around for more than 100 years. And although it may look different now than it did a century ago, the motto is the same: nobody goes away a stranger.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. If you know of a local business that could use some extra support during these times, please nominate them here: onlyinyourstate.com/nominate

When Doug and Judy Wise sold the business — after 60 years of ownership — to Ray Thompson, he did some renovating and remodeling to modernize the place.

Step inside and you'll find a market packed with gifts, groceries, sandwiches, beer, and wine. There's even a small coffee shop and deli.

Between the large portions and reasonable prices, including the notorious 10-cent cup of coffee, you'll be impressed.

The breakfast Benedicts are mindblowing, and the sandwiches are enormous.

Sykes is known for their friendly team, and that's a reputation every owner has taken pride in preserving.

While they've had to reduce their menu temporarily, you can still enjoy plenty of tasty food here.

This is the kind of one-of-a-kind place that makes Montana so fantastic.
