Unless you’re from Eastern Montana or you’ve traveled across the state, you may not have heard of Scobey. This little city in Daniels County is home to about 1,050 people, and it’s a very quiet place to live. But just west of Scobey sits the Daniels County Museum and Pioneer Town, a historical masterpiece everyone in Montana should visit.
The Daniels County Museum and Pioneer Town sits on 20 acres. 35 historic buildings have been restored to depict a Montana town in the early 1900s. With the goal of preserving history, the town and nearby museum display artifacts, archives, tractors and a collection of antique cars.
Pioneer Town is not a true ghost town, but it certainly feels like one when you walk through it. Like a giant history exhibit, it’s a great way to experience Daniels County’s past. The residents of Scobey keep Pioneer Town well-maintained for their visitors to appreciate.
