Food tastes best when it's fresh, especially when it comes to dairy products. And while you can always go to the grocery store and pick up your favorite out-of-state cheddar, if you have the option, you can go straight to the source and sink your teeth into some delicious locally made cheese.
Lifeline Creamery & Farm Store is located in Victor, and it's a must-see for cheese lovers.
You'll find Lifeline Creamery & Farm Store at 2427 Meridian Road in Victor.
Victor is a tiny farming community Ravalli County, so the location is perfect.
The farm is owned by Jen Holmes and Ernie Harvey, who believe in keeping their animals happy.
All of their feeds are organically grown with no chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides. The animals receive no growth or production hormones, no routine antibiotics, and no animal by-products in their feed. They are encouraged to roam the farm and graze.
In addition to cows, you'll find 40-60 mixed breed pigs at any given time.
The dedication and care this team puts into the farm leads to some seriously delicious dairy products.
Their organic milk is processed right at the creamery and farm store, and it tastes delicious.
But as tasty as the milk is, the shining star at this farm store is the cheese.
The cheesemaking process here begins with fresh milk being pasteurized and transferred to the cheese vat and ends with curds being turned into a variety of scrumptious cheeses. The cheese is aged anywhere from 60 days to a year.
You'll find Lifeline cheese and milk in quite a few stores throughout Western Montana and at local farmers markets...
... but nothing quite compares to a visit to the store.
You can visit Lifeline Monday - Friday from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 11-4.
There's nothing like freshly made cheese from a farm, or a Farmers Market.
