But after you've spent an entire day on an exhilarating hike, fly fishing, skiing, or otherwise enjoying the great outdoors, you know that a minuscule meal simply won't do. Horn & Cantle was designed for big appetites—and the space is big as well, meaning the staff can feed many a ravenous Montanan.
Horn & Cantle is located at the luxurious Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky.
You don't have to be an overnight guest at the ranch to enjoy a meal here, although the property is spectacular.
The large dining room is always bustling at dinnertime, a sign of the quality of the food here.
But at Horn & Cantle, it's about more than the food. The team wants to create an entire experience with delicious food and drinks, warm and engaging service, and an intimate social atmosphere.
Speaking of atmosphere, this place embodies the old West in the best ways.
And despite its large size, it feels warm, cozy, and intimate. Try it on a date night or for your next special occasion.
Of course, a good ambiance helps, but people do come to restaurants primarily to eat.
The menu rotates regularly, but they keep some of their classics available, like the 32-ounce Tomahawk bone-in beef ribeye.
But while steak is the star of the show here, it's certainly not the only thing on the menu—and even if you love red meat, you might be tempted to try something else.
There are even some enticing meatless options, which is pretty impressive since Horn & Cantle is a steakhouse by definition.
You can also enjoy breakfast and lunch here, although those hours (and the current menu) are limited.
But whether you're enjoying scrambled eggs in the morning or elk meatballs in the evening, you'll be impressed by this place.
Horn & Cantle is open daily, although dinner is not served on Wednesdays.
The dinner service is out of this world, so plan accordingly.
