These 11 Little Known Restaurants In Montana Are Hard To Find But Worth The Search
When you’re visiting your favorite Montana towns, it’s easy to see where the main streets (and therefore the most popular businesses) are. But unless you’re a local, you probably aren’t sure where the best off-the-beaten-path restaurants are, and sometimes it’s those more hidden places that serve the best food. It’s easy to pass by the restaurants on this list, but if you find them, you’ll discover they all serve delicious food.
1. Saffron Table, 1511 W Babcock St., Suite A, Bozeman
Saffron Table is a bit tricky to find. It shares a parking lot with a few other restaurants, and most people who discover it do so through Yelp or with the help of Google Maps. But the Indian food served there is some of the best you'll ever have anywhere, especially in Montana.
2. Bear Paw Coffee Shop & Deli, 30 Johannes Ave., Big Sandy
Big Sandy is a tiny little town in Choteau County, but if you ever happen to find yourself there, grab a sandwich and a coffee from this beloved hidden gem.
3. Juliano’s Restaurant, 2912 7th Ave N., Billings
Tucked away in a residential neighborhood in Billings is where you'll find Juliano's, which serves a delightful combination of American classics and surprisingly delicious seafood.
4. China Garden Restaurant, 2100 Stephens Ave., Missoula
China Gardens has repeatedly been voted the best Chinese food in town. This place is a Missoula staple, but if you don't live there, it's easy to miss. They're located in Stephens Center behind a Walgreens.
5. Frontier Bar & Supper Club, 28904 U.S. 2., Dunkirk
This unassuming steakhouse in located just outside of Shelby. It's easy to drive right by, but if you do, you'll be missing out on an amazing meal.
6. June’s Bungalow, 122 Woodrose St., Colstrip
It's not always easy to find great food in a town as small as Colstrip, and this restaurant can be tough to spot. But if you do find June's Bungalow, you won't be disappointed by the burgers, salads and sandwiches they serve there.
7. Vinny’s, 3 3rd W Ave., Polson
Vinny's is another place most people discover through Yelp or word of mouth rather than just stopping by. Vinny serves a little bit of everything here, from breakfast to sushi, and it's all delicious.
8. Piggyback BBQ, 102 Wisconsin Ave., Whitefish
Due to the casual atmosphere and sometimes empty outdoor patio, it's easy to pass by this little restaurant in Whitefish. But with an owner who hails from Texas, you're bound to get a taste of authentic Southern BBQ.
9. Karmadillo's, 139 Reeder's Alley, Helena
Tucked away in Helena's historic Reeder's Alley, you'll find a charming Mexican restaurant with mouthwatering food and the best views in town.
10. The Knead Cafe, 21 5th St. E, Kalispell
The ONLY complaint you'll ever hear about The Knead Cafe is that it can be hard to find. There are no complaints whatsoever about the amazing food.
11. Li’s Chinese Restaurant, 1615 W Towne St.,
Whether you live in Glendive or you're just passing through, you'll be amazed by the quality of the Chinese food served at Li's. This is a hidden gem for sure.
