You could spend an entire lifetime in Montana and not see all it has to offer. In fact, that's a big part of its appeal. There are 120 named waterfalls in the Treasure State, with hundreds more than probably have yet to be discovered. If you have a full day to dedicate to chasing waterfalls, you can't go wrong with the Crow Creek Falls Trail. This five-mile hike leads you to a little piece of paradise.
Crow Creek Falls is one of Montana's most beautiful waterfalls -- and that's really saying something.
It's often called the Crown Jewel of the Elkhorn Mountains.
The Crow Creek Falls Trail is located near Radersburg, a tiny town in Broadwater County that's a hidden gem all on its own.
While the hike is about 5.3 miles in length, it's considered a fairly easy trek. If you're a moderately experienced hiker, it will be a breeze.
The trail follows Crow Creek, leading you straight to the heart of the Elkhorn Mountains.
On a warm spring or summer day, you might see people fishing in the stream.
While this hike is pretty well-known, at least to locals, it's rarely crowded.
Expect to enjoy lots of peace and quiet as you explore the area.
After less than three miles of hiking, you'll reach Crow Creek Falls.
And that's when you'll realize your efforts were worth it.
The falls have only been public property since 2004, when they became the property of Helena National Forest.
And we're very glad they did.
The Crow Creek Falls Trail makes the perfect family day trip.
You can even bring your dogs, as long as they stay leashed.
