This Bargain Hunters Road Trip Will Take You To The Best Thrift Stores In Montana
There seem to be a lot of fans of the new Netflix show, Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. And with so many Montanans being inspired to clear out their clutter, this means one thing for bargain hunters: Our thrift store selection is about to get even better. We’ve found a few of our state’s most popular thrift shops and compiled them into a perfect bargain-friendly road trip itinerary.
Depending on which part of Montana you call home, you may have to reverse this order or add a few stops of your own. Enjoy your weekend of thrifting!
If you need new clothes, shoes, household items, or a good read, look no further than Community Closet in Livingston. They're open daily at 10 a.m., so this is where our thrifting adventure begins.
Next, head into Bozeman and check out Sacks, which also has a shop in Belgrade. Not only do they carry everything from clothing to furniture and art, but they're a non-profit that supports the Bozeman Help Center, a 24 hour crisis hotline and referral service.
While you're in Bozeman, stop by Twice Treasured. This big, friendly shop has everything from clothing to couches, and it's all adorable. You are bringing a truck or trailer on this journey, right?
This one might be tricky. But if you can get to Helena from Tuesday-Friday from 10:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (or 9-1 on Saturdays) you can check out one of the best thrift shops in Montana, organized by St. Peter's Cathedral. The thrift shop is located in the basement of Wilson Hall behind the main church, and it's amazing.
Next, cruise on over to Missoula and find this store that's always packed with treasures. For over half a century, Missoula locals have been buying, selling, and swapping all sorts of things, and the collection remains wonderful.
If time allows, make the drive up to Whitefish and check out Soroptimist Thrift Haus. Proceeds from purchases help other local nonprofits succeed, even granting some college scholarships to high school students and single working moms. Plus, the inventory is fantastic.
