If you believe in the paranormal, Montana is a great place to live. From our haunted hotels and bars to our allegedly haunted prison museum, you can take yourself on quite a ghost tour in the Treasure State. However, no story is quite as baffling as the tale of the young girl who seemingly haunts Bear Canyon and attempts to lure women into the woods.
Bear Canyon is located near Bozeman, and it's one of the most popular recreation sites in the area.
It's a fantastic place to go hiking and camping in the summertime. In the winter, it's a local favorite ski area.
You can explore the area on the eight mile Bear Canyon Trail, which is popular from spring until fall.
But if you do, keep an eye out for anything eerie.
The recreation area's recorded history dates back to the late 1800s, when the canyon was booming thanks to the Cooper Saw Mill.
In 1941, a downhill ski area opened here. What happened during that time period to cause paranormal activity is unknown, but the possibilities are practically endless.
Many a hiker and camper here has reported seeing a little girl on the Bear Canyon Trail who seems to appear out of nowhere.
The girl seems especially drawn to female hikers and campers and attempts to lure them into the woods.
A few ladies have boldly followed the little girl, but she simply leads them into the middle of nowhere and then vanishes.
Her motives remain unknown, but the situation is baffling.
Other people claim to have seen a strange mist on Bear Canyon Road, and the Bozeman Paranormal Society claims to always have paranormal experiences when they investigate the area.
Some claim to have heard a little girl calling them by name, others swear they smell the scent of cigarette smoke even when no one there is smoking. Someone even received a mysterious call during an investigation, which is especially eerie since no one seems to get service in Bear Canyon.
