With bees facing possible extinction, it's more important now than ever to support the local farms that raise many of these bees. It doesn't hurt that these farms are producing delicious fresh honey, as well.
P&D Honey Farm opened in 2008 in Fair Grove, Missouri.
The farm offers tours of the beeyards for those interested in the honey-making process.
If you're an aspiring beekeeper, you can learn from the best here.
While at the farm, you can purchase your own beekeeping starter kit and receive mentorship from one of the well-trained beekeepers at the farm.
As you tour the farm, you'll notice rows of hives.
You can even purchase your own established hive if you lack the time or energy to start your beehive from scratch.
The entire property is absolutely beautiful and you'll want to stop to smell the flowers.
In addition to making honey, bees are extremely important when it comes to pollinating various plants.
The Honey Breakfasts in the summers are always a hit.
In addition to a tour, the farm invites guests for a lovely breakfast outdoors that features honeycomb from the farm, eggs, biscuits and bottomless coffee and juice.
Before you leave, don't forget to visit the honey shop.
After seeing how the honey is made, you'll want a souvenir to take home. The shop is opened 7 days a week from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There's a variety of flavors and styles of honey to choose from.
The Honey Shop has Sweet, Clover Honey and Wildflower Honey. You can buy it as liquid honey, comb honey or
cut comb in liquid.
The cut comb form of the honey is especially unique.
Cut comb honey is a real treat and you won't be able to find it at most grocery stores.
Tours at the P&D Honey Farm are not only informative, but they can be pretty delicious.
