Swim At The Bottom Of A Waterfall After The Six-Mile Hike To Rocky Falls In Missouri
Hikes often boast some pretty spectacular rewards, including spellbinding views. The six-mile hike to Rocky Falls in Missouri pairs two of summer’s favorite activities – hiking and swimming – and culminates at a beautiful waterfall. Even better? You can go swimming in the pool into which the waterfall tumbles.
Arrive at Rocky Falls, near Eminence, by following one of two trails. The shortest and fastest route to the waterfall is via the Rocky Falls Shut-In Trail.
The trail, which is rated moderate, clocks in at just .01 of a mile, so you’ll only have a short trek to the waterfall’s pool. It’s perfect if you just want to relax and to cool down in the water.
However, if you’re up for an adventure that includes a six-mile hike, follow the Klepzig Mill Trail. You can start at either the waterfall or the mill.
If you want to work up a good sweat, so you can cool down in the water, begin your hike at Klepzig Mill. Whichever way you start, make sure you’re wearing sturdy and waterproof shoes (unless you don’t mind get your shoes wet).
You’ll have to cross two creeks on the out and back trail that’s also popular with campers. Be prepared to deal with muddy conditions after it has rained.
If you’re planning to swim, just be prepared for the waterfall swimming hole to be crowded. Summer’s the most popular time to visit the waterfall, although you can check it out any time of the year.
