We can all probably agree that homemade just tastes better, right? And, that's true whether we're digging in to a delicious Sunday dinner or we're toasting a memorable moment with a cold beer. This farm brewery in Missouri handcrafts its own line of beer that is sure to tantalize your taste buds. Even better? You can bring the whole family, and even your pets, along to this kid and pet-friendly spot.
For the last 20 years, Piney River Brewing Company has been making handcrafted beers on an 80-acre farm nestled in the Ozarks.
Breathe in the fresh mountain air as you arrive at the farm brewery, where cows graze on lush green grass and nap near the water.
The farm brewery, founded and run by Joleen and Brian Durham, started modestly as they transformed their working barn, which dates back to the 1940s, into the current Piney River Brewing Company.
And, soon, the Durhams began working with a distributor as demand for their handcrafted beer outpaced the supply.
In late 2011, Piney River Brewing Company achieved an impressive milestone when the Durhams began to can their beer right at the brewery, the first microbrewery in the state to do so.
Today, beer connoisseurs flock to the rural brewery on the weekends to sample the handcrafted beer and to enjoy the camaraderie among the guests. (Tours of the farm brewery are also available.)
So, pull up a chair and try some of the beer, available all year around, such as Black Walnut Wheat, Missouri Mule IPA, and Float Trip Ale.
And, order the kids a root beer and the whole family a pizza. Outdoor seating is available, weather-permitting, and guests are welcome to bring a picnic or a grill.
Plan your visit to Piney River Brewing Company, open 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
