Stretched across more than 2,400 acres, the nature reserve provides a glimpse at several types of natural habitats - prairies, wetlands, and forests, for example.
Wear a pair of comfy hiking or walking shoes, especially if you want to explore some of the 17 miles of hiking trails. You might want to bring your camera along, too.
You can spend as much time, from just an hour or so to all day, as you want at this lush oasis along the Meramec River. Chances are you'll return again, because there is so much natural beauty to see.
Shaw Nature Reserve features a Nature Explore Classroom for the kiddos, the Serpentine Wall, and Crescent Knoll Overlook, which offers stunning views of the Meramec River.
