Sometimes we only have a few free hours or we’re in search of an activity that won’t put too much stress on our wallets. Fortunately, Missouri’s got plenty of free things to do – from visiting our state parks to exploring these must-visit museums in Missouri. Admission to each is free, and chances are you’ll return more than once. There’s that much to see and experience.
1. Missouri History Museum – St. Louis
Delve into Missouri’s rich history with a visit to the Missouri History Museum. The free-admission museum features a variety of short-term and long-term exhibits, including Color St. Louis. This unique exhibit allows visitors to enjoy a hands-on experience by coloring on the walls. Other exhibits give insight into the Civil Rights Movement and the 1904 World’s Fair. 2. Springfield Art Museum – Springfield
One visit to Springfield Art Museum, you’ll quickly realize, simply isn’t enough. After all, it boasts a massive collection of more than 10,000 pieces from an array of eras. As you stroll through the museum, you’ll discover ceramics, decorative arts, pottery, and textiles. Keep an eye on the events, including classes and artist talks, too. 3. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art – Kansas City
Journey around the world when you visit the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, which is home to both permanent collections and temporary exhibits. 4. Branson Centennial Museum – Branson
Stroll through the small but fascinating Branson Centennial Museum, nestled in historic downtown Branson. The museum focuses on the town’s rich history through rotating exhibits. 5. Missouri State Museum – Jefferson City

6. Museum at the Gateway Arch – St. Louis
Start your visit at the Gateway Arch by exploring the free museum that features six interactive exhibits – taking you from Colonial St. Louis to the Building of the Arch.
