There so many natural attractions, parks, and nature centers in Missouri that we usually don't have to travel far to explore many of them. However, when we're up for a bit of a drive, we have plenty of attractions from which to choose. One of our favorites is Amidon Memorial Conservation Area in Missouri. This park in Fredericktown, Missouri, for example, offers several hiking trails, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking pink granite shut-ins.
Slip on a pair of sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of water for your adventure at Amidon Memorial Conservation Area, a natural attraction that's popular with outdoor lovers.
Spanning more than 1,600 acres, this Missouri park offers a variety of activities - from hiking and fishing to camping.
Three hiking trails wander through this natural area that's home to an abundance of wildlife, including chipmunks, wild turkeys, and prairie lizards.
Each trail tallies a mile or less and will lead you through some of the lush forest that features shortleaf pine, cedar glades, and hardwood trees.
One of the highlights of the park in Missouri is, hands down, the pink granite shut-ins, the only shut-ins of their kind in the state.
More than 1.5 billion years old, the shut-ins have become a popular swimming hole during Missouri's hot summers. Bring your swimming gear along.
The crystal-clear water promises a fun way to stay cool on those sweltering days.
Bring a picnic, too, and...
Don't forget your camera to capture the abundant natural beauty in the park.
