10 Things You Have To Do Before You’re An Official Missourian
Here in the Show Me State, there are some things you have to do before you can really call yourself an true Missourian. From visiting landmarks, to floating down rivers these activities are quintessentially Missourian.
See how many of these Missouri things that you’ve done:
1. Taken a trip to the top of the Gateway Arch.
Visiting the Gateway Arch is a total bucket list activity for all Missourians. This national landmark is known around the world and is basically synonymous for Missouri.
2. Floated down a Missouri river in the summer.
There are so many great rivers perfect for summer float trips in Missouri. Grab your water shoes and tube down one of Missouri's calm shallow rivers with your friends.
3. Vacationed in Branson.
Did you know more people visit Branson annually than the Grand Canyon? Missouri's most popular tourist attraction, Branson, is a must visit for all true Missourians.
4. Celebrated a snow day.
Missouri is blessed to experience all four seasons. Kids all acorss the state wait in anticipation for the first snow day each year. It was even better when you had a great go-to sledding spot!
5. Had a close encounter.
Anyone who has spent some time driving in Missouri knows that deer can dart out into the road at a moments notice. Any local would know to be extra cautious on the roads in Autumn, especially around dusk.
6. Been to a professional baseball game.
With two World Championship baseball teams in the state, you can't call yourself a Missourian until you've visited at least one of the ballparks. Bonus points if you get tickets to a Cardinals versus Royals game.
7. Answered the call...MIZ!
Even if you didn't attend Mizzou it's easy to get swept up into the school spirit. Every Missourian knows the response to MIZ is ZOU!
8. Explored beneath the surface.
Between school field trips and vactions with your grandparents. A true Missourian has gone below the surface on a cave tour. After all, Missouri is the Cave State with more than 6,000 known caves.
9. Prepared for inclement weather.
In Missouri, it's not uncommon to experience the weather of all four seasons in one week. These dramatic weather changes can often lead to inclement weather and even tornadoes. If you went to school in Missouri you're all too familiar with tornado drills.
10. Had a lake weekend.
It does't matter which lake is your favorite, hitting "the lake" each weekend in the summer is quintessentially Missourian. You know summer hasn't truly begun until you've been to the lake,
