With this pandemic going on, I think it’s safe to say we could all use a little pick-me-up. In August of last year, USA Today created a list of the best places to grab a milkshake in each state.

Nabbing the Mississippi spot was Brent’s Drugs, which can be found in the heart of Jackson’s Fondren neighborhood.

A Jackson institution, Brent’s Drugs opened in 1946 as a pharmacy and soda fountain. Though the pharmacy was eliminated about 10 years ago, the soda fountain has remained — and retained its vintage vibe.

The mouthwatering milkshake menu includes all the classics, such as vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry.

In addition to typical flavors, there are also several signature creations, like the Ginger Finger (Butterfingers, ginger syrup, and vanilla ice cream) and the Bananatella (bananas, Nutella, and vanilla ice cream).

The shake selection doesn’t end there, though. There’s also a variety of “add-ins,” like candy bars, syrups, and hot fudge, so you customize an already-existing shake or create an entirely new one.

And don't forget about seasonal shakes, like the King Cake Shake.

Regardless of whether you order one of Brent’s signature shakes or concoct your own, you’re bound to be impressed because Brent’s shakes are consistently referred to as the best.

Of course, Brent’s menu consists of more than just milkshakes.
