There are lots of farm-to-table restaurants in Mississippi, but, with its very own produce garden, Ravine takes the concept to a whole new level. And whatever isn’t grown on-site, is carefully and locally sourced. Serving up some of the freshest food you’ll ever taste, this secret garden restaurant in Mississippi is more than worthy of a spot on your bucket list.
Nestled among oaks and pines and housed in a rustic log chalet, Ravine looks like something from a fairy tale. It’s real, though, and it’s in Oxford, just a few miles from the bustling Town Square.
Somewhat remote, Ravine isn’t the kind of place you simply stumble upon. However, that hasn’t stopped diners from frequenting the restaurant, which opened in 2003.
And while the rural locale can make locating Ravine a bit difficult, it has one huge perk – plenty of space for a garden!
Not just for looks, the fruits and veggies grown in the garden are used in the restaurant.
Of course, not everything can be grown on-site. However, that doesn’t mean outsourced ingredients aren’t fresh.
Rather than having a set menu, Ravine regularly changes its menu, drawing inspiration from what’s in season, fresh, and locally grown.
And it seems that Ravine has discovered the recipe for success.
The “sophisticated and sumptuous fare,” which includes both familiar favorites and creative concoctions, consistently delights diners (and their taste buds).
In addition to the flavorful entrees, the menu features tantalizing desserts, including house-made ice cream. There’s a full bar, too.
From the setting to the fare, a meal at Ravine is bound to be a memorable one! So, did you know about this secret garden restaurant in Mississippi? Ever dined at Ravine? If so, what’d you think? Could you taste a difference? We want to know!
Ravine might be one of the few restaurants in the state that grows its own produce, but there are lots of lovely garden restaurants in Mississippi. One that’s sure to impress is The Beer Garden in Starkville.
