Oxford, The One Christmas Town In Mississippi That’s Simply A Must Visit This Season
Towns all across the state host festive Christmas events. But just like the star atop the Christmas tree, one place really shines when it comes to yuletide fun, and that place is Oxford. Not only is the town decked out in lights and décor, but it hosts a Hallmark-worthy holiday celebration – complete with ice skating and carriage rides.
Oxford’s Christmas celebration, Holly Jolly Holidays, is back for its 2nd year!
Held at the Old Armory Pavilion, the festive event includes ice skating, carriage rides, caricature drawings, live ice carvings, food trucks, visits with Santa, an ornament auction, and a holiday market.
Most festivities are available only on select days. For instance, you can enjoy carriage rides and caricature drawings on December 4th and 11th. On December 5th, you can watch a live ice carving.
There’s no cost to attend Holly Jolly Holidays. But, you do have to pay for most of the activities. For example, ice skating is $12 per person and includes skate rentals.
Some activities are free, though. Viewing the live ice carving and visiting/snapping a photo with Santa, for example, won't cost you a dime. There's also free shuttle service between the Square parking garage and Pavilion.
So, did you know about Oxford’s Christmas celebration? Did you attend the first Holly Jolly Holidays? If so, what’d you think? Know of another great winter event? Tell us!
