Since part of Mississippi State University within the city, Starkville has the reputation of being a college town. With roughly 25,000 residents, it’s the most populated city in the Golden Triangle region, and just beyond the shadows of MSU lies a tiny some of the best BBQ you’ve ever tasted. This tiny restaurant in Mississippi is often packed, and for good reason! This is one spot that’s worth waiting in line for.
The Little Dooey is one of the best places to get BBQ in the state, so it’s no surprise to pull up and find this tiny restaurant in Mississippi with a line out the door.
The family-owned restaurant got an early start back in 1985 when Barry and Margaret Wood began selling homemade BBQ sauce at a local gas station. It was so popular that it gave the Woods the motivation to open their own restaurant.
And the restaurant’s name? A "little dooey" is the family’s code for a fun gathering with friends and family.
The humble eatery offers both indoor and outdoor dining, and if the weather is cooperating, we’d recommend enjoying your meal outside.
Let's be honest. BBQ was meant to be eaten outdoors.
The Little Dooey is known for its BBQ, so you'd better come hungry!
Platters, plates, and several sandwiches pepper the menu.
If you're in the mood for a burger, these are delicious.
Single or double stacked and served with your choice of side!
But the menu extends past BBQ.
There are several seafood dishes, as well. And this seafood comes straight from the Gulf, so you know you're getting the freshest seafood around.
And there are always a few daily specials to tempt you with.
Like this smoked meatloaf. Yum! This feels like a good old-fashioned meal you'd find at your grandma's place.
Give The Little Dooey a follow on Facebook so you never miss out on any daily specials. Starkville is a great town for foodies in general. Have you ever visited Starkville?
