1. The Shed Barbecue and Blues Joint (Ocean Springs)
When it comes to hole-in-the-wall BBQ joints, The Shed definitely fits the bill. The restaurant is built out of actual junk, for heaven’s sake! A unique setting is just one facet of The Shed, though. It also serves up some of the “tastiest BBQ in the South.” For more info, click visit the official website of The Shed Barbecue and Blues Joint.
A Yazoo City staple, Ubon’s Restaurant has been serving up “amazing BBQ” since its opening in 2003. But great BBQ isn’t all Ubon’s Restaurant is known for. It also carries its own line of BBQ sauces and bloody Mary mixes. For more info on some mouthwatering Mississippi BBQ and more, visit the Ubon’s Restaurant website.

The epitome of a hidden gem, Sonny’s Smokehouse is in a small town and can be kind of tricky to find since a GPS won’t lead you straight to it. However, the effort is well worth it because Sonny’s Smokehouse doles out a slew of BBQ classics, including pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. For more info on some of the best BBQ in Mississippi, call Sonny’s Smokehouse at (662) 285-8074.

The Little Dooey has come a long way since its opening in 1985. Over the years, it’s gone from a local favorite to the “most popular BBQ destination in the region.” But some things have stayed the same. For example, The Little Dooey still uses time-honored recipes to whip up its famous fare. For more info, visit this Mississippi BBQ joint's official website.

Pretty unique, Clay’s House of Pig (otherwise known as C.H.O.P.) is a bait shop AND a BBQ joint in one. The combo might seem strange, but, as they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The restaurant consistently receives rave reviews, and in 2019, the BBQ was named some of the best in the state by Mississippi Magazine. For more info, visit the official website for hereClay’s House of Pig.

Where else can I find the best bbq in Mississippi?
Great Mississippi bbq can be found all over the state. Some of the best bbq joints in the state include the following:
Memphis Barbecue Company in Horn Lake is a local favorite offering ribs, onion rings, cornbread, and more.
The Pig & Pint in Jackson uses global flavors to inspire its cuisine.
Mike’s BBQ House in Blue Springs offers Memphis-style BBQ.
Pig Out Inn Barbecue in Natchez has wood-fired smoked BBQ.
Mississippi BBQ is similar to Memphis-style BBQ with sweeter sauces. However, there is also some Carolina influence with vinegar-based sauces at some places. Sweet, tangy, and spicy are prominent flavors in Mississippi BBQ. And it’s quite a popular food choice in every corner of the state.
